Ocho Rios is also a huge
shopping mecca; partly because of the pier,
where the major cruise ships dock, bringing
over 600,000 visitors a year.
The
town hosts two major shopping centres: the
Taj Mahal and the Island Centre, both of
which offer fabulous duty free shops with
good bargains on normally expensive items.
There’s also the famous Ocho Rios Crafts
Market.
Island
Village is located just minutes away from the Cruise
Ship Pier in Ocho Rios, its picturesque open
air setting, boardwalk, natural spring
lagoons and beautiful flowering trees
provide a refreshing experience. Visit The
Reggae XPlosion - interactive reggae
exhibition, Internet Jungle, Jimmy Buffet's
Margaritaville, Eight Rivers Gaming Centre,
duty free shops and curio shops or simply
relax on the beach.
Tajmahal Shopping Center
is an open-air
mall and home to Hard Rock Cafe, Bijoux Jewelers (Breitling
watches, Raymond Weil watches, Swarovski
crystal, Baccarat crystal, Hummel figurines,
Fendi leather), Casa De Oro (Mikimoto
pearls, Fendi leather, Cartier leather, Tag
Heuer watches, Tiffany watches and jewelry,
Rado watches, and an extensive perfume
center) and Mohan’s Duty Free Shop (crystal,
perfumes, cigars, Cross and Parker pens and
Swiss Army knives). You can also find Beauty
braids and tattoos, Internet cafe, ATM
machine, Currency exchange, and a one man
band at the Tajmahal shopping center.
Ocho Rios Crafts Market
is an outdoor market with over 100 vendors.
This crafts market has everything Jamaican
under the sun. from sandals to local
woodcarvings to shell items, and straw
goods.
